The CBC News is reporting that Gavin van der Linde, the mayor of Morris, a southern Manitoba town, is “furious over what he calls racist comments about aboriginal people in the latest edition of the community newspaper”. The editorial of the Morris Mirror’s current edition (PDF), penned by editor-in-chief Reed Turcotte, also labels Canada’s Aboriginals and Idle No More activists ”terrorists”.

Earlier this week, someone suggested that, if chosen to succeed Dalton McGuinty as Ontario premier next weekend, Liberal leadership front-runner Kathleen Wynne would invite the Ontario New Democrats to form a coalition government. NDP leader, Andrea Horwath, has dismissed the idea. In a letter recently mailed to supporters, she said the coalition government talk is “a distraction from the issues.”
“With so many Ontario families struggling in tough economic times, we’re not interested in playing political games for personal gain,” she said. ”We’re not interested in a coalition government.”
