Through a Conservative MP’s mouth, the Harper Conservatives’ heart spoke to Canadians again.

On Tuesday, Yukon Tory MP Ryan Leef was so overjoyed by Harper’s visit that he invited those gathered to “join me in welcoming back to the Yukon, the prime minister of Cannibal“. Yesterday Environment Minister Peter Kent repeated the gaffe and introduced the Dear Leader as “the prime minister of cannibal.”

What should we make of these Freudian slips? The thing is: Alexander is a rookie MP. His gaffe is common in dictatorial situations where the leader holds unprecedented power over legislators. But what about Kent, is a veteran MP and member of Harper’s cabinet? He was a broadcaster before taking up politics.

Or, is there a real Harper human flesh-eating thing going on? Are the Tory MPs trying to articulate what we already know about their boss, what we’ve been saying all along: that Harper is cannibalizing Canada?
