The Trouble With Alleged bin Laden Porn Stash

Apparently, Osama bin Laden’s treasure trove of materials recovered from his Pakistan hideout after he was killed included… porn. I’m relieved that the terrorist is dead, but I don’t buy porn story.

Picture this: every day since Sept 11, 2011, I and millions of peace-loving people around the world anticipated another cataclysmic terrorist attack. Meanwhile, the intelligence missed the mark. The al Qaeda’s leader was actually relaxing in his hideout watching porn. Porn took the place of his obsession with obliterating America, right? It’s the reason he planned no significant terrorist act in ten years?

The porn story plays well with the gullible. It illuminates disparity between bin Laden’s lofty ideals and his basic instincts. The story seeks to undermine his credibility. But it normalizes him too, makes him one of us.

Already in 2000, porn industry raked in between $10 billion and $14 billion annually in the United States alone, outdoing the NB, NFL and Major League Baseball, combined.
